  • First meeting to introduce myself and get to know you . You are under No obligations to employ my Doula service if you arent sasitfied with the first meeting

  • One further meetings prior to 37 weeks. We discuss detailed prepartions needed for the birth aswel as a birth plan

  • On call from 37 weeks until the birth.

  •  I can be present at home if appropriate during labour before transfer to Hospital for the birth.

  • Continuous physical, emotional, and psychological support throughout labour for the Mother and her partner.

  • Assistance after the birth to help with Breastfeeding 

  • One further post natal visits at home, assistance with

  • breastfeeding and a detailed discussion around the birth

  • Further visits if necessary at an extra cost at R250 per hour

What i will provide as your Doula

  • I can help you draw up a birth plan that suits your needs and desires best.

  •  I will help you to fulfill your birth plan to the best of my ability.

  • I will provide emotional and physical support during labour.

  • I will provide comfort measures and coping strategies for dealing well with labour. 

  • This includes massage, breathing, visualizations, the birth ball, shower/water therapy, hot/cold therapies, change of position, walking, leaving you alone with your partner for a short while, and discussions of whether or not you want pain medications and at what point. We will discuss your preferences before the birth.

  • I will be happy to take pictures of and/or video for you of your birth.

  •  I will stay with you throughout your entire delivery and for at least the first one hour postpartum, unless you request otherwise ahead of time or circumstances change at your birth.

  •  I will help you to latch baby as soon after birth as circumstances allow. 

  •  I will make at least one postpartum visit after the birth unless you request otherwise.

  • I cant Perform clinical tasks, such as taking blood pressure, fetal heart checks, vaginal exams, and others. I am there to provide only physical comfort, emotional and informational support

  • I wont make decisions for you. I will help you get the information necessary to make an informed decision. I will also remind you if there is a departure from your Birth Plan.

  •  I wont speak to the staff instead of you regarding matters where decisions are made. I will discuss your concerns with you and suggest options, and I will help you identify key questions that may help you with your decisions, but you or your partner is the best person to speak to the clinical staff.

  • As a Doula I will not prescribe, diagnose or treat any medical problems that may arise and will not be liable for interpreting diagnostic procedures. This is the role of your provider.

  • I am NOT there to replace your husband or partner if he/she will also be assisting you at your delivery. I am there to work with you and for you and to be part of your birth team.


In the event of a rapid labour or emergency situation, I will call the necessary specialists and hospital. In the event of an emergency delivery I will do what measures I am capable of to try to keep you and the baby safe and comfortable until EMS arrives. This will fall under The Good Samaritan Law.
